Dr Mike Lucas, BA, DPhil, FCMA

Until he recently retired, Mike was a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the Open University Business School. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in the UK.

Prior to entering academic life he had 12 years’experience as a finance manager/director in manufacturing industry.

Mike’s main teaching and research interests have been in the area of management accounting, and he has published a number of academic journal papers concerning the ‘gap’ between the theory and practice of management accounting; his PhD is also on this topic.

Mike has worked previously on a CIMA-funded project researching the application of management accounting in (UK) small-medium enterprises (SMEs).

He is also interested in the development of new business models (including new accounting models) for a sustainable capitalism- an area in which he has developed and taught an MSc module for the University of Buckingham.
